Ichor Launches Antimullerian Hormone test
An Antimullerian test is useful for assessing the status of ovaries including ovarian reserve and responsiveness as part of an evaluation for infertility, or assessment of manupausal status.
It can also be useful for evaluation of infants with ambiguous genetalia or other conditions, evaluating testicular function in infants or children and monitoring patients with antimullerian hormone-secreting ovarian granulosa cell tumors.
A desireable total cholesterol level is below 200 milligrams per decileter (mg/dL), whereas a high cholesterol level is anything above 240 mg/dL for adults 18 years of age or older.
Why should I get tested?
In a document published by Stats Canada in 2010 showed that 41% of adults in Canada had elevated cholesterol levels, increasing their risk of adverse heart events.
According to the National Heart, Lung and Blood Institute (NHLBI), a peron's first cholesterol screening should occur between the ages of 9 and 11, and then be repeated every 5 years after that. The NHLBI also recommends screenings occur every 1 to 2 years for men ages 45 to 65 and women ages 55 to 65. People over 65 should receive cholesterol tests annually.
